What is a Journey

African Travel Crew is proud to share that our film Cape Town to Victoria Falls – What Is a Journey? received the Silver Award at the International Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA) 2026.

Held annually in Johannesburg, ITFFA is one of Africa’s leading tourism film festivals, bringing together filmmakers, tourism organisations, destinations and content creators from around the world. This year’s festival attracted 438 film entries from 47 countries, making the recognition especially meaningful.

Sometimes it's the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination

But beyond the award itself, this film began with a simple question:

What is a journey?

Is it measured by distance travelled, countries crossed, or landmarks visited?

Or is a journey something deeper?

Filmed across Southern Africa, from Cape Town to Victoria Falls, the film explores not only the landscapes that define this remarkable region but also the deeper meaning of travel itself.

Through a cinematic journey across rugged coastlines, vast deserts, wildlife-rich wilderness areas and the mighty Victoria Falls, the film reflects on how the places we encounter shape our experiences, memories and understanding of what it means to travel.

For African Travel Crew, the recognition is an encouragement to continue creating films that go beyond showcasing destinations and instead seek to capture the identity, character and spirit of place.

We would like to thank the organisers and judges of the International Tourism Film Festival Africa, everyone who contributed to the production of the film, and the viewers who continue to support our work.
