About Us

African Travel Crew is an award-winning African storytelling studio founded by filmmaker, creative director and tourism specialist Neil Jansson

Built on decades of experience across tourism, hospitality and expedition travel throughout Southern Africa, the studio creates cinematic films, visual narratives and carefully curated experiences inspired by the people, landscapes and stories of the continent.

Long before filmmaking became the primary focus, Neil spent years developing lodges, creating tourism products and guiding journeys across South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. From remote Delta waterways in the Okavango to small towns, cultural landscapes and heritage destinations, these experiences shaped a deep understanding of Africa not simply as a destination, but as a collection of stories, atmospheres and human connections.

Today, African Travel Crew focuses on cinematic storytelling rooted in authenticity, heritage and emotional connection. Through film, photography and expedition, the studio explores Africa slowly and intentionally — documenting not only where places are, but what they feel like.

Selected productions have received international recognition, including awards at tourism and documentary film festivals, with featured work showcased on Discovery South Africa.

Alongside its film work, African Travel Crew also collaborates with destinations, lodges, tourism regions and cultural organisations to create cinematic storytelling designed to capture the identity and feeling of place.

At its heart, African Travel Crew exists to tell thoughtful African stories — stories shaped by journey, atmosphere, memory and the people who bring places to life.
